Paired coins
What a coin trades against - ETH, SOL, stock tokens or stablecoins - and what that changes.
2hour.fun opens soon. These guides explain how everything works once we're open.
Every coin on 2hour.fun trades against something - its pair. The pair is chosen by the creator at launch and never changes. It decides what you pay with, what the coin's price is measured in, and what any rewards are paid in.
ETH and SOL
Most coins pair with the chain's own coin: ETH on Robinhood Chain and SOL on Solana. You buy with ETH or SOL and sell back to it.
Stock tokens
A coin can also pair with a stock token - a token that tracks the price of a company's share. A coin paired with a stock token is priced in that token.
- You can still pay with plain ETH or SOL: the site swaps it for the stock token in the same trade.
- Prices on the site are shown in dollars, so you can compare coins whatever they're paired with.
- A stock-paired coin's dollar value also moves with that stock's price.
Stablecoins
Coins can pair with a stablecoin such as USDC, which is designed to stay at $1. The coin's price in dollars then depends only on its own trading, not on the price of ETH or SOL. You can still pay with ETH or SOL, swapped in the same trade.
What the pair changes
- What you receive when you sell (before any swap).
- What reward coins pay their holders in - ETH, the stock token or the stablecoin.
- The pool the coin moves to when it graduates.
Key points
- A coin's pair is what it trades against, chosen at launch and fixed for good.
- Pairs include ETH or SOL, stock tokens and stablecoins.
- You can pay for a stock- or stablecoin-paired coin with ETH or SOL - the site swaps it for you.
- Prices are shown in dollars so coins can be compared.
